You're invited to join our Board of Directors

The Kutenai Art Therapy Institute (KATIA) is celebrating its 27th year in community. The Institute offers a 2-year post-baccalaureate diploma program in art therapy. Our program specializes in training rural, adaptive, culturally sensitive professional art therapists. We are dedicated to the belief that the creative process is healing and life enhancing and that the use of the expressive arts can contribute therapeutically to both individual and community health. We are dedicated to promoting and providing art therapy as a community service and to training culturally sensitive and responsive art therapists. KATIA is currently recruiting new Board members.

WHAT DOES THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS DO?

The Board of Directors is comprised of a maximum of 11 Directors, elected at the Annual General Meeting. Board members are responsible for the functions and activities of the organization. It is their role to ensure that the organization follows its stated vision, mission and goals.

Specific duties include attending Board meetings (about ten times per year), and ideally participating in committee work.

The Board of Directors is accountable for the finances, legalities, planning, fundraising, and policy decisions of the Society.

Becoming a Board Member of KATIA will provide you with a wonderful opportunity to continue to shape the field of art therapy within Nelson BC, and across Canada.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS DO I NEED TO SERVE ON THE BOARD?

An interest in serving your community and an ability to work with others are basic requirements for being on any volunteer board.

A belief in the principles and values of KATI is important. Previous board experience is an asset.

You should have familiarity with Zoom meetings, and the ability to participate in email correspondence. Our meetings are held online.

You will also need to be a current member of KATIA.

Boards represent a diversity of skills and abilities. Currently, we are actively recruiting for a Board Member with Fundraising expertise. This is essential for the next wave of KATI’s growth.

We have a strong Board right now, with great ideas and several exciting initiatives underway.

I’m available to discuss any questions you may have. For more information you may wish to talk with present or former members of the Board email us at: Lheisler@kutenaiarttherapy.com

Sincerely,

Lisa Heisler
